Hello all,
Since the beginning of the pandemic, I have refused the mask in regard to my health. The number one reason would be a common phrase you hear when you are sick “don’t touch your face”, “wash your hands”, “stay home if you are sick.” These common health practices have allowed our society to feel okay about the dangerous diseases we face.
I received push back and questions as the pandemic was new to everyone. It progressed and peaked in mid-2020, resulting in me almost getting arrested. I traveled to Vegas and wore no mask for a day and was forced the second. I wore it on my face and realized; people do not care. Authority cared, and they did for a paycheck and to get their life back in order. I understood this but also knew I wasn’t going to get them to shut down alone, and if I did get others too, these are the people the mandate was in order for. Basically, people did it to get into business; the business did it to get people and the big hand of government was the only ones concerned. Walking around I get not bad looks but smiles. I see it as some people agree on no mask, and also people like to experience other people.
A great video I recently watched was a baby reacting to its mom making no facial expressions movements or sounds. This was amazing to see; the mom was playing with the baby and all was sound. She turns away and turns back and goes stone face. At first, the baby doesn’t realize thinking it's a possible part of it or something new but keeping momentum. Once the baby realizes nothing is happening, loud screeches start to get the mother to react. Arms start flailing and the baby starts to break down. The mother snaps back and comforts the baby; watching this made me scared for the growth of our next generation.
As we wear the masks, socially distance, and demonize outside or group events, we dehumanize each other. Slowly we are losing connection with each other and our own family. Christmas was not a tradition for the first time in my life this last year. Now as we are approaching mid-2021, I think about my family. I think about people's smiles, kids in the park, and what tomorrow will bring.
In a bug's life, ants and circus bugs say no, without a miracle bird. That bird fell apart because they rushed it, they should have named it johnson and johnson.
